SideQuest Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the SideQuest mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you") and Y Not Labs ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use SideQuest. If you are under 18, you represent that you have obtained parental or guardian consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will terminate their account and delete associated data.

3. Account Registration

To use SideQuest, you must create an account by providing:

  • A valid email address
  • A unique username
  • Your full name
  • A secure password

You may also register using Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@findsidequests.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

You may only create one account per person. Creating multiple accounts to gain unfair advantages is prohibited.

4. The SideQuest Platform

SideQuest is a location-based adventure platform that allows users to:

  • Discover Quests: Browse and accept real-world quests created by businesses, organizations, or other users near you.
  • Complete Quests: Fulfill quest objectives through verified activities including photo capture, GPS check-ins, QR code scans, merchant code verification, timed challenges, item counting, and text responses.
  • Earn Rewards: Accumulate skill points (Physical, Mental, Creative, Generosity, Wellness, Sensory) and win prizes offered by quest creators.
  • Create Quests: Design your own quests using our standard wizard or AI-assisted chatbot creator (powered by OpenAI).
  • Social Features: View your progress, compare rankings, and participate in community challenges.

5. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
  • Trespass, endanger yourself, or violate any laws while completing quests
  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent quest completion data (including manipulated photos or locations)
  • Create quests designed to deceive, harm, or defraud other users or merchants
  • Harass, bully, or threaten other users
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or interfere with the App or its infrastructure
  • Create automated scripts or bots to complete quests or accumulate points
  • Use the App while operating a vehicle
  • Misuse merchant verification codes or prizes

You are solely responsible for your physical safety while completing quests. SideQuest does not guarantee the safety of quest locations and is not liable for injuries sustained during quest completion.

6. Location Services

SideQuest requires access to your device's location to:

  • Show nearby quests
  • Verify location-based check-in objectives
  • Enable timer objectives that track distance

You consent to the collection and use of your precise geolocation data while using the App. You may disable location access in your device settings, but doing so will limit or prevent core functionality.

7. Camera and Photo Access

Certain quest objectives require you to capture photos using your device's camera. By completing photo objectives, you:

  • Grant SideQuest a limited license to store and display those photos in connection with the quest
  • Confirm that photos submitted accurately represent the required objective
  • Confirm that photos do not contain illegal, harmful, or inappropriate content

We do not sell your photos to third parties.

8. User-Generated Content

When you create quests or submit content on SideQuest, you grant Y Not Labs a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, display, and distribute that content in connection with operating the App. You retain ownership of your content.

You represent that your content does not infringe any third-party rights, violate any laws, or contain offensive material.

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms without notice.

9. AI-Generated Quest Creation

SideQuest offers an AI-powered quest creation tool powered by OpenAI's GPT-4o. By using this feature:

  • You acknowledge that quest suggestions are AI-generated and may require review before publishing
  • You are responsible for the final content of any quest you publish
  • AI-generated content is processed through OpenAI's API and is subject to OpenAI's usage policies

10. Prizes and Rewards

Prizes offered through SideQuest are provided by quest creators (businesses, merchants, or users). Y Not Labs:

  • Does not guarantee prize availability, accuracy, or fulfillment
  • Is not responsible for the quality or delivery of prizes
  • Is not liable for disputes between users and prize-offering merchants

Points and rewards have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash.

11. Merchant Integrations

Some quests use merchant verification codes issued by participating businesses. Merchant codes may only be used once and must be obtained directly from authorized staff. Attempting to guess, share, or fraudulently use merchant codes will result in account suspension.

12. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, trademarks, logos, and other materials in SideQuest are the property of Y Not Labs or its licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any portion of the App without our prior written consent.

13. Third-Party Services

SideQuest integrates with third-party services including:

  • Supabase (database and authentication)
  • OpenAI (AI quest creation)
  • Apple Sign-In (authentication)
  • Google Sign-In (authentication)

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. Y Not Labs is not responsible for the practices of these third parties.

14. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, Y NOT LABS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT QUEST INFORMATION (LOCATIONS, TIMES, PRIZES) WILL BE ACCURATE OR CURRENT.

15. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, Y NOT LABS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, LOSS OF DATA, OR LOSS OF PROFITS.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Y Not Labs and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including attorney's fees) arising from your use of the App, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.

17. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms or for any other reason. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.

18. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [Your State], without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts located in [Your County/City, State].
